Wayfarer V8.0 ist da!!

Diesmal ist es großes Update - es wurde auf WebKitGTK 2.44.0 aktualisiert, was lt. Jacad nicht einfach war und eine Menge Arbeit erforderte.

Kleinere Spaß am Rand: Ich wollte sofort was spenden, aber konnte mich plötzlich bei PayPal nicht mehr einloggen. Der Login-screen ist da, aber dann konnte ich nichts weiter machen (keine Reaktion auf die Tastatur). Tatsächlich ist aber alles da und reagiert auch - d.h. man kann was eintippen - nur der Refresh geht nicht und man sieht es nicht. ABER: ein verändern der Fenstergröße bewirkt einen erzwungenen Refresh und man sieht alle wieder. Bis das gefixed ist, kann man sich damit behelfen. Interessant ist, das dieses Problem scheinbar europaspezifisch ist - in Canada/USA funktionierts.

Und die Fehlerbehebung ist auch schon da: Wayfarer V8.1 steht zum Update bereit!

Version 8.4 ist draussen. Sie behebt ein curl/nghttp 2 Problem.

Edit: V8.4 hat leider noch immer einige gravierende Probleme mit http/2. Vorerst ist es besser 8.3 weiter zu verwenden, bis das gefixt ist!

V8.5 ist da. Leider scheint das Problem noch immer nicht ganz gelöst zu sein, da es jetzt zwar selten, aber immer noch sporadisch auftritt.

Mittlerweile ist V8.6 da und das Problem scheint gelöst - zumindest ist es bis jetzt bei mir nicht mehr aufgetreten!

Ich bewundere wie schnell Jacad das lösen konnte - das ist nämlich in seiner Testumgebung nicht aufgetreten......

8.9 is another bugfix release:

- Fixed an issue where local storage would be completely wiped on most Wayfarer starts leading to page settings loss / logouts / etc
- Fixed a crash when clicking the notification permission popup
- Fixed a race condition in MediaSource player
- Fixed Navigator API to report correct # of hw threads
- Fixed to report actual screen sizes via the Screen API
- Fixed a rare crash when transitioning to a new url within a page

Wayfarer ist in der Version 8.11 erschienen:

Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek hat kurz hintereinander die Versionen 8.10 und 8.11 seines Webbrowsers Wayfarer für MorphOS veröffentlicht, der nun auf der neuesten, stabilen WebKitGTK-Version 2.44.3 basiert. Außerdem wurde ein seltener Absturz beim Drücken der Zurück/Vorwärts-Tasten behoben und cURL aktualisiert. Darüberhinaus bietet die Version 8.11 noch ein kleines Bonmot: es ist eine HTML-API aktiviert, die für Meta AI benötigt wird. Damit ist es unter MorphOS nun möglich, mit dem Open-Source-KI-Modell Llama 3.1 zu chatten oder Bilder zu generieren. (dr)

Nachdem bereits davon die Rede war, das die letzte Version (8.11) wohl wirklich die letzte Version bleiben wird, da zukünftigeWebHit-Kernel die PPC-Platform nicht mehr unterstützen, ist heute ganz überraschend die Version 9.0 veröffentlicht worden - quasi ein kleines Weihnachtswunder!

Wayfarer V 9.0:
Rebased to WebKitGTK 2.46.5
Updated cURL, tasn, xml2, nghttp2 libraries

Jacad schreibt dazu:

Wayfarer is back from the dead, with version 9 based on WebKitGTK 2.46.5.
Once again we're up to date with a WebKit base that's just a couple of days old. That said, this has been the worst rebase so far. I've lost hope a couple of times after trying several attempts at getting the errors fixed, including getting the code to build with older GCCs. 2.46.5 is the first release that no longer builds with GCC10, which has the unfortunate side-effect of build times increasing by the factor of 2. Not exactly helping when you're trying to fix this... In the end the main culprit was a bit of little-endian only code in the html parser that WebKit backported from Chrome.

I'm sure not all problems have been fixed, but v9 is now stable enough that I'm willing to release it to a wider audience. Report problems you see here and send any crash reports you get, please! Do keep v8 at hand in case something doesn't work or just to compare the behavior before reporting problems.
